			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The folks at Resu.me asked me to check out their website, which they are launching to become a job and career networking site for the Millenium generation.</p>
<p>So I checked it out.</p>
<p>Here are the good parts:</p>
<ul>
<li>The focus is on helping people get started quickly. So they enable sign on using facebook connect &#8211; no long winded registrations needed.</li>
<li>The site makes it possible to import your <a class="zem_slink" title="LinkedIn" rel="homepage" href="http://www.linkedin.com">Linkedin profile</a> &#8211; so no need to build a resume . And you get a <a class="zem_slink" title="Vanity URL" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanity_URL">vanity URL</a>. Mine is <a href="http://gautam.resu.me">http://gautam.resu.me</a></li>
<li>There&#8217;s a tab which I think is a cooliris app- so if you are a photographer or other visual artist you can show off your videos and pictures there.</li>
<li>It builds an activity stream &#8211; which shows what you do on the site, and you can add your blog posts/status updates to that also. It also imports your existing blogs from <a class="zem_slink" title="Blogger" rel="homepage" href="http://blogger.com">Blogger</a>, <a class="zem_slink" title="Tumblr" rel="homepage" href="http://tumblr.com">Tumblr</a>, <a class="zem_slink" title="WordPress" rel="homepage" href="http://wordpress.org">WordPress</a> and <a class="zem_slink" title="Posterous" rel="homepage" href="http://www.posterous.com">Posterous</a>.</li>
<li>There&#8217;s a stats chart &#8211; which promises to be interesting (or depressing, if you find that people are not viewing your profile) <img src='http://s0.wp.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </li>
</ul>
<p>Things I didn&#8217;t quite like or what didn&#8217;t work for me:</p>
<ul>
<li>The Reader tab is to enable you to import your <a class="zem_slink" title="OPML" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OPML">OPML</a> file of <a class="zem_slink" title="RSS" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS">RSS feeds</a> or one feed at a time. Tried doing that &#8211; but it&#8217;s not working. The larger question is why would you read your feeds on a career networking site. This is one example of over-engineering features</li>
<li>The <a class="zem_slink" title="User interface" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_interface">UI</a> is quite dull and doesn&#8217;t engage me.</li>
<li>The Jobs section is US centric. There&#8217;s no other country mentioned there. Which is quite useless for folks from <a class="zem_slink" title="India" rel="geolocation" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=28.6133333333,77.2083333333&amp;spn=10.0,10.0&amp;q=28.6133333333,77.2083333333 (India)&amp;t=h">India</a>. I don&#8217;t know why they invited me to check out the site.</li>
</ul>
<p>So overall I think it needs to focus on getting the job search process done well, and let go of the blogging/reader aspects &#8211; or at least tuck it away and not make it so prominent.</p>
<p>Will it become a linkedin competitor? I doubt it. Even millenials have linkedin profiles and networks in place. Getting them to move &#8211; even as Linkedin focuses more and more towards being a service focused on jobs &#8211; would be tough.</p>
<p>The site also needs to think about how to attract recruiters &#8211; and showing them a value that they may not be getting at Linkedin.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We at 2020 Social (<a href="http://2020social.com/" target="_blank">http://2020social.com</a>) recently compared the employment brand related conversations of two  large IT firms on the social web by bloggers and on social networks. </p>
<p>The analysis looks at <b>trends</b>, <b>themes </b>and <b>sentiments </b>associated with these two IT firms over the period of one month  (March 2010) It also has a <i>representative </i><b>recommendation </b>section on how one of the firms can leverage the social web to build its  employment brand.</p>
<p>Please note for confidentiality&#8217;s sake all identifiable data has  been masked. </p>

Establish thought leadership in the domain of how Indian  consumers engage with web, mobile and social technologies through blog  posts, white papers and conference talks. Set up the Mumbai office for  2020 Social and establish and grow client relationships. Over a one year  horizon, manage a team of 5-6 Associate Consultants and Analysts.</p>
<p>Skills: Consumer marketing, digital marketing, business consulting,  business development.</p>
<p>Background: MBA from IIM or equivalent with 4-6 years of experience.</p>
<p>Reporting to: <a href="http://2020social.com/team/gaurav/">Gaurav</a></p>
<p><strong>Consultant (1): Location: Ideally Delhi or Bangalore, but also Mumbai</strong></p>
<p>Role: Define the functional requirements for social applications and  community platforms for clients. Work with internal account managers/  project managers and external design firms/ development firms to ensure  that projects are delivered in cost and on time. Simultaneously, find  opportunities to productize these social applications and community  platforms as proprietary white label solutions that can be re-used  across multiple clients. Over a one year horizon, manage a team of 5-6  Associate Consultants, Analysts and Designers.</p>
<p>Skills: User experience design, product management, project  management, familiarity with Drupal and Facebook/ LinkedIn/ Twitter/  OpenSocial APIs.</p>
<p>Background: IIT/ NID or equivalent with 6-8 years of experience.</p>

<p>We are hiring engineers who can make kick ass web-based applications and be responsible for design and development of the web-based interface between our complex server wizardry and the end user.</p>
<p><strong>Who you are?</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>B.E or MCA in computer      science or related fields with 1-5 years of software engineering      experience.</li>
<li>Previous work experience with      JavaScript, PHP, JSP or other similar scripting languages required.</li>
<li>Experience developing      database driven, internet-based, server applications a must.</li>
<li>Experience in DHTML      (JavaScript 1.0-1.5, CSS1 &amp; CSS2, DOM Levels 0-2).</li>
<li>Knowledge with “rich web”      techniques and toolkits required.</li>

<p>We are hiring Server Engineers to design and develop our core services and application platform. You will write the server side code for all our web/mobile based services. The focus will be on creating robust high volume applications, and at the same time have the ability to turn around quick prototypes.</p>

You will be part of our client development team and be responsible for design and development of MangoSpring’s mobile client platform and applications.</p>
<p><strong>Who you are?</strong></p>

<li>B.E or MCA in computer      science or related fields with 3+ years of software engineering      experience.</li>
<li>At least 1-2 years of      experience in a particular client technology platform (J2ME, BREW,      Symbian,Windows Mobile, BlackBerry).</li>

<p>- Consultant (1)</p>
<p>From IIM or equivalent with 5-10 years of business experience, out of which at least 2-3 years experience should be in an internet/ mobile VAS company. The ideal candidate would have worked in or started a web 2.0 company, or worked in a business consulting firm. Role would involve leading client engagements, and advising clients on social media strategy, including community platforms and social CRM programs.</p>
<p>- Associate Consultant (1)</p>
<p>From IIT or equivalent with 2-10 years of technology or business experience. Familiarity with content management systems like Expression Engine/ WordPress/ Drupal/ Joomla and social APIs like Facebook/ OpenSocial/ Twitter API and the ability to pick up new technologies is essential. The ideal candidate would have both design and development skill sets. Role would involve overseeing the design and development of community and social CRM program infrastructure.</p>
<p>- Social Media Analyst (no openings as of now)</p>
<p>Graduate (or preferably MBA) with 2-5 years of experience, preferably in a digital agency, basic understanding of marketing and social media, and excellent communication skills. Role would involve researching and writing reports on social media campaigns and social media conversations about brands.</p>

<p><strong>Job Description</strong></p>
<p>US-based Semiconductor Company with significant India presence is looking for Manager, Accounting to oversee critical India finance operations. The company is seeking a high-energy, hands-on individual desiring a challenging position with diverse responsibilities. This position offers significant opportunities to willing individuals to streamline processes.</p>
<p>The Manager, Accounting position reports to the Controller, Finance located in Bangalore. The position oversees a staff of 1 in Bangalore. Core duties include the following:</p>
<p>• Represent the company on key financial/tax/compliance matters with governmental agencies<br />
• Oversee accounting activities in accordance with the company policies and procedures and responsible for   accurate and timely financial reporting and statements of India legal entities.<br />
• Oversee external statutory, tax, customs, STPI and other statutory reporting<br />
• Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 requirements (to the extent applicable to India)<br />
• Maintain relationships with outsourced accountants, shared service centre, solicitors, banks and key vendors<br />
• Liaise directly with U.S. accounting, tax, legal, shareholder services and payroll departments, as required<br />
• Liaise with Singapore shared service centre for vendor payments and accounting activities and reporting<br />
• Develop and manage to organization benchmarks<br />
• Ensure ease of doing business</p>
<p>This position requires occasional travel to U.S and Singapore. Current travel percentage is approximately 5% but may increase as business grows.</p>
<p>Skill And Qualifications<br />
The ideal candidate will be a hard-working energetic individual with the following qualifications:</p>
<p>• Chartered Accountant or CPA<br />
• Minimum 6-10 years of related experience<br />
• Proven track record as a contributory member to the management team with the ability to lead and work alongside an existing finance team.<br />
• Dynamic, strategic, self starter, possessing acute business acumen and strong leadership capabilities.<br />
• Able to set priorities and work to tight deadlines<br />
• Resists passing the buck around, strives to solve the problem<br />
• Solid attention to details<br />
• Ability to think globally<br />
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to team with individuals in diverse business and cultural environments<br />
• Willingness to work hands-on in addition to developing and executing the strategic vision for the department.<br />
• Familiarity with local statutory reporting requirements<br />
• Sound technical knowledge and strong operational and financial background.<br />
• Familiarity with US Sarbanes-Oxley Act is an added benefit.<br />
• Experience in MNC environment/semiconductor industries will be an added advantage.<br />
• Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word).<br />

<h3>Sales Manager (Job Code: MR-SM)</h3>
<p>Should have at least 6 months of experience in web services domain.<br />
Should have outstanding communication skills &#8211; written and oral.<br />
Should know the basics of social media marketing.<br />
Should be capable of handing a team of executives.</p>
<p><strong>Content Writer (Job Code: MR-CW)</strong></p>
<p>Should have some past work experience of writing &#8211; either as a freelancer or employed.<br />
Should have strong communication skills &#8211; written and verbal.<br />
Should be comfortable with Internet, emails.<br />
Knowledge of blogs, wikis and newsletters is plus.</p>
<p><strong>Junior Web Designer (Job Code: MR-JWD)</strong></p>
<p>Should have at least 6 months of experience in Web Development.<br />
Should have a creative view.<br />
XHTML, CSS, Adobe Photoshop is mandatory.<br />
Knowledge of Macromedia Flash and Sound Editors is desired.<br />
Must be a team player and shall have good communication skills.</p>
<p><strong>PHP/MYSQL Developer (Job Code: MR-DEV)</strong></p>
<p>Should have at least 6 months of experience in PHP &amp; MySQL.<br />
Should be a natural problem solver and logical thinker.<br />
Knowledge of Social Web APIs (Facebook, OpenSocial) is beneficial.<br />
Must be a team player and shall have good communication skills.</p>
