10 U.S. Jobs for the Recession

  • Nurse

  • Interesting list by Time.com – as they say: “When it comes to what makes us happy at work, job-satisfaction surveys have been showing for years that the size of our paycheck is losing ground to intangibles like autonomy, mobility, low stress, flexible hours, job security, health coverage, paid time off and other benefits. Does pay matter?

Workers who are elated to simply have a job aren’t squawking about money, and according to a Randstad survey, they now name job security and benefits among the top factors in their happiness. Competitive pay is moving down the scale. Another expediter is demographics. The massive boomer generation is entering its retirement years undersaved and in need of continued employment. Yet boomers are determined to scale back hours and stress, and some at least are happy to trade a big salary for work with meaning and which allows for a better work/life balance, so long as the bills still get paid.”

    Business Journalism Is Dying?

There is more interest, argument and passion surrounding the condition and future of American business than there has been in several generations. And yet, in the space of three months, two business magazines — the organs that exist to offer the stuff people are clamoring for — have been abandoned. One, Portfolio, a newbie, was closed. The other, Business Week, an old stalwart, is up for sale, according to reports that caught even the magazine’s own editorial staff by surprise.

As someone said, magazines are dying.

    Not journalism.

With basic information available to everyone, people can reach lots of people/sources for analysis and opinions.

I cringe at the term ‘citizen journalism’ but I personally think that it is where business journalism is headed, except in this case ‘citizens’ won’t be on the road, but in the cubicle next to yours

    Hilarious: Goldman Sachs Internal Memo

I’d like to thank everyone who made this possible—for a second time. Respect to President Obama for keeping us in the green. Thanks to the big guy upstairs (me). And let’s not forget all the ordinary Americans, who, for some unfathomable reason, have refused to put us behind bars. We are literally taking money out of their wallets. Seriously, with these returns we are making Madoff look like a little kid with his hand caught in the cookie jar. Amateur!
