Small businesses create jobs in the US

ADP report shows:

While large businesses have lost more than 170,000 jobs over the last six months, small businesses are seeing their employment sector grow. Over 200,000 small business jobs have been created in that time.  New data shows a continuation of this trend.   Today, ADP released the September ADP National Employment Report® and ADP Small Business Report® which showed small business employment – defined as businesses with fewer than 50 workers – added 28,000 jobs during September.

See below for a break-down of the small business data by sector:

  • Total small business employment: +28,000
  • Goods-producing sector: -16,000 small business jobs
  • Service-providing sector: +44,000 small business jobs

Swarathma goes international

Jishnu (who was part of the Bodhi Tree band which was a big hit in Indian campuses with GMD and XL ki Kudiyan) sent us this mail updating us about his new band Swarathma:

Hi!

Swarathma is going international! We’re flying to Singapore tonight
to take part in a week long televised Pan-Asian talent showcase
featuring musicians, bands and songwriters.

This program is called SUTASI (www.sutasi.com) and will feature
performances, interviews and jam sessions. For us, its a great
opportunity to showcase our brand of folk-fusion-rock to an
international audience.

When we return we’re playing in Mumbai on Oct 12 at Blue Frog, Lower
Parel. Hope to see you if you’re in town. 8.30pm.

Right after that we head into Yash Raj Studios along with John
Leckie, an award winning UK based producer to lay down 2 tracks that
will be part of a compilation marketed by The British Council all
over the world.

Rocking faithfully on,

Jishnu

Seems like they are (literally!) going places! Wish JIshnu and the rest of the band all the best!
