So who was the mystery mailer who ensured that the ‘weight’ of Google homepage did not exceed 28 words?
We don’t know.
I personally think the whole email bit is a marketing story that Google’s posting to build up buzz. We all know that stories are great in making myths come alive. What a better way to make the concept of a light home page a reality than to float a story like that.
Or maybe it was some employee internally in Google. How many people in 2000 knew who Marissa Mayer was, anyway?
